Hobbies

Jennifer has many hobbies beyond writing.

An old soul, she loves collecting antiques from any and every era. From dinosaur bones and teeth to Roman coins and Viking rings to Victorian jewellery and postcards, her collection is slowly growing. One day, she hopes to open her own mini museum—one with a library attached, of course.

Recently, she has gotten back into sewing after over a decade of not touching a sewing machine. Apart from continuing to cross-stitch, she is now learning to create items such as dolls, quilts, bags, bookmarks, and book covers. So far, she has managed to avoid sewing her fingers together (again—Year 9 textiles class may have involved more bandaids than necessary).

She has also more recently delved into amateur photography (which works well with her love of exploring) and painting. She's not planning on quitting her day job to pursue either, though...

Many of her hobbies are shared by the characters in her novels. For example, the dress Mishka makes in Call Me Rumpel is the very same medieval dress pictured in the images below. Unlike me, however, she manages to create it without hammering her fingers during the eyelet stage of construction (she had to catch a break somewhere).
